Applying to St. Nicholas School

In preschool a maximum of two classes of twenty three-year-old students can be accepted for admission. Twenty-six new students can be accepted for admission in our four-year-old program, depending upon the number of openings available. Therefore, there may be a limited number of students, which can be accepted for admission. For grades kindergarten through 8, the number of students accepted for admission will be based on the number of openings available.

Admission Requirements

Admission of students will be on a “first come, first serve” basis and the students must meet the following requirements:

Pre-School:

  • Must be three years of age by December 1st of the academic year for which admission is sought
  • Must be toilet–trained (no diaper-like or training pants)

Pre-Kindergarten:

  • Must be four years of age by December 1st of the academic year for which admission is sought
  • Must be toilet–trained (no diaper-like or training pants)

Kindergarten:

  • Must be five years of age by December 1st of the academic year for which admission is sought
  • Must demonstrate that he/she is developmentally ready as determined by data compiled as a result of readiness screening

First Grade:

  • Must be six years of age by December 1st of the academic year for which he/she is seeking admission
  • Must have completed a full year of kindergarten
  • Must be developmentally ready as determined by data compiled as a result of readiness screening

Second through Eighth Grades:

  • Must be the appropriate age by December 1st of the year they are seeking entrance into St. Nicholas School
  • Must have tested at or above grade level on their entrance examinations
